Biography

A 2001 graduate of USC's School of Cinema-Television, Azad Jafarian first moved to the United States at the age of fourteen. In addition to making a number of no-budget short films, he has also produced a feature and various other shorts and music videos. His background in no-budget digital filmmaking lead to him winning the Best Picture award at the 2005 Duke City Shootout where seven filmmakers were given the resources to shoot their scripts and complete their films in only seven days. As of 2006 Azad has been producing spots for Current TV. His father is the acclaimed Iranian cinematographer Hossein Jafarian (Fireworks Wednesday, Crimson Gold, Through The Olive Trees, Under the Skin of the City) and the person who inspired him to become a filmmaker at a young age.
